Yesterday marked the 30th day since the 278th took over for the 155th which means we had earned the right to wear a patch on our right sleeve under the American flag. This is where your "combat patch" goes and signifies that you have been deployed before. So as of now I am a "combat vet".....who hasn't seen any combat. That feels kind of strange.
Fugitive Troop formed up in the motor pool and our Squadron's CO (Lt. Col. Krenson) and our Troop CO (CAPT. Tippens) each spoke briefly on the Mission and our progress so far. Then our platoon SGT (SFC Ammerman) came around and put the patch on everyone in Zombie Platoon and handed us each a Squadron coin. This was followed be some handshakes and hugs from the Troop CO, the First SGT (1st SGT Haynes), and Zombie Platton leader (1LT Vines).
Later that evening Zombie gathered for a cookout and to "hang-out" with each other. Not a bad day to be in Iraq. :)
