Zombie Platoon is off on another CET (Convoy Escort Team) mission tonight.......except for me. The CROW truck has been down for maintenance for the past week. On the last mission I rode in the back of another truck as a GIB (Guy In Back...that is now an official Army term) and it was .....um......not enjoyable. There was nothing to do, nothing to look at, and the ride is even worse in the rear of these beasts. A couple of days ago I let the Convoy Commander know that it would not break my heart, upset my morale, or cause me to question my patriotism if he dropped me from being a GIB again on tonight's mission. He agreed and that is why I am sitting in my room ALONE right now. It is glorious!! Now, understand that I get along with my roommate just fine, but to have some peace and quiet for more than a few hours is........wait for it.......glorious!
I already watched a movie WITH NO HEADPHONES. I tried a little singing earlier without fear of critique. The AC is under my total control. It is bliss. Too fleeting I am sure because I won't be able to stay behind on the next one if my truck is still down, but I am basking in it for the moment. Ahhhhhhhh.
