Fugitive Troop (the cavalry name for a company) is the new name for F Troop. Back in the States we were Fox, but that isn't nearly intimidating enough for a combat zone so we adopted a tougher sounding name. Within the Troop the 4 platoons were to come up with names also. Zombie was the chosen name for my beloved second platoon. Thus, Fugitive Zombie was born (see 1 below).
The first few postshavel been general, background information about Iraq so far. I will start to write a little more of my day-to-day feelings, observations, and stories soon. I can tell you that tonight I enjoyed baked Pollock for dinner, washed a humvee with a pressure washer (the mud didn't stand a chance) and smoked a Cuban cigar (see 2 below) in the motorpool while waiting for those special words: "you're released until such and such time tomorrow".
1. I have heard that a Zombie stencil has been fashioned. Stencil + black spray paint = tagging There is also a rumor of Zombie bumper stickers currently in development. I wonder if these will find their way around JBB: on vehicles, at bus stops, on security gates, in the chow hall, on random jersey barriers, or at Iraqi Police checkpoints. Just sayin.......
2. My local-national connection has a pipeline to Cuban cigars. Punch, Cohiba, and Romeo y Julieta to be exact. I have taken the opportunity to secure some Romeos at a nice price.....plus it is legal to purchase here unlike in the U.S. One of the benefits to being here I guess, but I will have to smoke them all before I go home. I am pretty sure U.S. Customs will frown on bringing any back with me.
