Military Intelligence

Because I didn't go out on last night's mission I was informed today that I needed to report for a "little detail" in the Motor Pool at 1600 (4pm).  Ok...annoying, but no big deal.  Wrong.  Below you will find a summary of the next three hours:

SUPPLY GUY:  We need to take everything out of this blue conex container and put it inside this red one. (Bear in mind these things are like 20 feet by 8 feet)

Evidently the red conex was jealous of all the stuff that was in the blue one.  And I am sure the blue one was talking some smack about it. So, the 5 of us moved things from one to the other for the next hour.

SUPPLY GUY:  OK...good job.  Now we need to take half of the stuff out of this orange conex and put it in the red one. The other half needs to go on the back of that truck and taken across the motor pool to (you can guess what's coming here, can't you?) that green conex.

Really?  It can't just stay where it is?  It needs to go in a different one ...why??  Another hour gone.....but this one was different in that it started to rain.  Yes, rain.  In. The. Desert.

SUPPLY GUY:  Great.  Ok, now we need to take that big pile of misc items and put them in the green conex too.

Stupid...stupid...stupid.  This was musical conex moving for no apparent reason.  Final tally of productive work by highly-trained ninja warriors.......

Before:  blue=half full    red=empty     orange=full    green=empty
Total: 2 empty, 1 half full, 1 full.

After:  blue=empty   red= half full   orange=empty  green=full
Total: 2 empty, 1 half full, 1 full.

Does anybody notice a pattern or a similarity?  The sad part is that somebody in charge thinks this all made perfect sense.  And in the military world it probably did.
