JBB, IRAQ: This just in. The highly professional leadership (read morons) at the Cav Palace collectively decided they had reached their maximum level of boredom recently. In order to boost their own self-worth and provide themselves with an injection of power they embarked on that time-honored tradition of screwing with the lives of soldiers. A decree from on high has been issued to the different serf-like units that is breathtaking in its audacity and unrivaled for its sheer luncacy.
The breathers of rarefied air have created a detailed schedule for us lowly drones. Nevermind that after months of adaptation through trial and error the soldiers have all perfected a personal schedule that maximizes their day-to-day living in this place and allows for full mission readiness. I submit to you that certain amounts of personal choice and flexibility are inheriently important for the physical and mental well-being of the men, but starting today we will now be told when we can sleep, eat, shower, visit the gym, call home, go to the PX, have "free time" and perform our mission prep work......to the hour.....for every day of the week. Is this Basic Training again? Am I at Fort Benning? (well, it's about as fun here.) This is after months of 100% mission completion with very vew problems of any kind. (Let me take a minute here to reveal that Fugitive Troop is the only troop in the squadron that has not had any major screw-ups or disciplinary actions to date and is widely held as the best troop in the Regiment.) Reward: almost total lock-down with this new schedule. Thanks.
Early reactions are 99% against this order (which serves as a prime example of why they really should raise the intelligence cut-off scores to get into Officer School). It will only manage to drop unit morale and cohesion. The rumor is that Fugitive leadership views this as counter-productive and "stupid". Betting pools have begun on how long this will last, how stupid it will get, and if we can outlast our own 'high'-command long enough to get home with some sanity left.
I think I can....I think I can.
