Today started with the usual argument with the alarm clock. Then it was on to the gym/suana for my almost-daily cardio workout and dehydration therapy. Today's little gift was that the gym was out of towels; officially displayed as "no available are towels" on their little hand-written sign. Close enough, Yoda. The treadmill was my torture device of choice today and I burned almost 500 calories on my 3 mile walk.....and sweated about a gallon while getting my core body temp up to about 200 degrees. As I have posted before the AC is not working in the gym (no hurry on fixing it, guys, nobody has spontanelously combusted yet), they can't master the concept of getting any fans in the mean time, and today they had no towels in which to absorb yourself as you melt. Wonderful.
After a quick shower, an energy bar and brushing my teeth 4 times in the space of an hour in hopes of making up for lost ground I headed for the dental clinic. A full bird Colonel did everything today. He did the numbing, drilling, filling, and then the cleaning while all the cute female assistants were tragically busy somewhere else. What was that about? After getting the usual "brush and floss more" I was free to head to the MoPo.
My homeland security type assignment today was to review a bunch of award reccommendations and "fluff" them with some bigger vocabulary where possible. I guess I am qualified since I teach 9 years olds how to write paragraphs. This wasn't too far removed from that either. Once that was done I knocked out a quick 300 word "good news" article for the Squadron newsletter. I have been tasked with doing one of these a month since January. I have as much fun with them as I can by making sure I insert all manner of archaic military vocabulary and current hot-button phraseology. Today's article contained the following gems: "tactical patience", "force-layered weapons protocols", "aggressive battlespace posture", "denying the enemy initiative and momentum", and "removing the enemy's tactical offensive relevancy". Magical. It is almost like a game to see how many of these things I can fit in an article. Oh, and as an inside joke I try to get the words "matrix" and "dragon" in there somewhere. Were they both in today's?....check. Good to go.
Shortly after I post this I will be heading back to the MoPo for mission prep. That should take a couple of hours and then it is back to my chu to relax for a bit.
